Scammers are sending physical letters to Ledger hardware wallet owners, impersonating official communications to steal recovery phrases. The fraudulent letters demand immediate validation of 24-word seed phrases under threat of wallet access restrictions—a tactic designed to panic users into compliance.

Tech commentator Jacob Canfield exposed one such attempt, sharing a letter falsely claiming to require a "mandatory security update." Ledger confirmed the scam’s prevalence but emphasized its devices remain secure when used properly. The incident highlights growing sophistication in crypto-targeted social engineering attacks.
